W-type highway guardrail, also known as W-type corrugated guardrail, is a kind of passive traffic safety protection facility widely used in highway engineering. It is mainly composed of W-shaped corrugated steel guardrail boards, columns, splice bolts and other components. The core structure of the guardrail board presents a continuous W-shaped cross-section, which is formed by cold rolling of high-quality low-carbon steel plates (usually Q235 steel) and then undergoes anti-corrosion treatments such as hot-dip galvanizing or galvanizing + plastic coating to enhance its resistance to atmospheric corrosion and extend its service life.
Its core function is to limit the running trajectory of vehicles when traffic accidents such as vehicle out-of-control occur, absorb the impact energy generated by the collision, reduce the damage to vehicles and personnel, and prevent vehicles from rushing out of the road to cause more serious accidents.
